In Memory of John Rickhuss.

It's been a few years now, since we lost John, but his memory lives on in the swimming club that he helped to shape. We talk of him often, remembering bits of advice, humour and that presence of character that he bought to Swan Pool. Sadly we lost John's son Mark in 2005, another giant of the sport. Mark was the quickest British Swimmer to cross the Channel in 1999 with an exceptional time of 9 hours 18 minutes. Mark's friends from the Warwick School recently swam the Channel in a relay team, something he was very keen on promoting. Both John and Mark are sorely missed by those of us who knew them.

Each year Sandwell Long Distance Swimming Club members vote for their swimmer of the year, the winner of which receives the John Rickhuss trophy kindly donated by his friend Mik Hennessy.

Winners:

2004 Nicky Scott
2005 Emily Corden
