Chairman Terry Whitehouse

Home

To be re-elected as Chairman is either an indication that I'm doing something right, or that is no-one else that wants the job.

Whichever it is I feel privileged to have gained the support of the membership for the fourth year running. The management team have had to face many new problems this year: Licensing arrangements that govern radio stations and the music that we play on air have changed. Ultimately it means we have to pay a fee to continue providing the same services that we have always have done. We have had to begin preparations to move to new studios when the new development begins. Meetings with high - level management have secured our future, something that I'm proud to have been involved in. Technology has advanced that will affect how we produce programmes in the future, and we have had to learn new skills both operating and managing the station. We can't get away with a turntable and a few records anymore, though we are one of the few radio stations locally that still uses vinyl. Alongside the usual day - to - day concerns and the constant battle to keep the station solvent, this has been a busy year. I would like to take the opportunity to personally thank all the members for their efforts in keeping the station running and making it what it is. Special thanks to the Management of Walsall Manor Hospital - particularly the estates department who have given us their assistance and co-operation.

Terry Whitehouse

Chairman

Of course, I could not forget the dedicated staff on the wards - I have been a patient at the Manor, and enjoyed the best of care. In fact, that's how I came to join WHR - I enjoyed hearing a request played for me and decided that I'd like to put something back into something that had made my stay a little more comforting. That was - well let's just say a few years ago. I wish all the patients a speedy recovery to full health. May your God go with you.
