ALISON HADLEY

Hi, my name is Alison Hadley, I do 1 or 2 request shows on Walsall Hospital Radio: Lincoln Ward on Friday Night and The Request Show on a Saturday Morning.

I love playing different types of music and I am a big fan of Cliff Richard. I got to meet him for the second time at the NIA in December 2005 at the Cliff Richard Tennis Classic and it was amazing experience which I will always remember. I even got a kiss and a hug from him, which is so much better than the prize itself.

My son Miles takes up most of my time and I love going hill-walking in the Peak District with him and my partner John.

I hope your stay in Hospital is a short one and don't forget to tune into Walsall Hospital Radio.

STEPH

Hello, my name is Steph and you can listen to my show every Saturday morning from 9 -11. As you tuck into your Cornflakes, I will be bringing you all the biggest celebrity news and gossip, as well as raiding the record library for long forgotten artistes and tracks, So, if you require a wake up call, just tune in at 9am and sit back and enjoy.

I started with the station just under a year ago, and I love my two hour slot. Popular songs from decades ago to today, all is played even the embarrassing ones!

Away from the station, I have many interests, including Cycling, Reading, music internet - especially a certain bidding website - and going out with my friends. I am currently arranging my wedding to my fiancé, Stewart, in September 2006.

JOYCE HAYWOOD

Hi, my name's Joyce Haywood and I do maternity requests for Foxglove and Primrose wards. I've been with WHR for 8 years now and still enjoy seeing all the newborn babies and get to hold some occasionally. We have had quite a few sets of twins born this year up to yet, and I suppose there will be a few more to come before the year ends. It's nice to walk the wards and see the love and happy faces of the parents, grandparents and also the brothers and sisters all having hold of the newborn and seeing all the smiles. I also take on the wards any lady members we get and train them to get requests so they can have their own shows as well.

You can hear my show on Wednesday night on maternity channel 11 between 8pm and 9pm (it may be different number on other wards). When the station shuts down, we put the playout system on and you have music all night. It's fun being a radio presenter here at WHR because you get to meet so many people who are just great, and we have a laugh and joke while asking which requests they would like us to play.

LAURA SANDERSON, Presenter and Fundraiser.

I joined WHR at the beginning of 2004. Everyone was really welcoming. I was trained by Andy and Joyce which took around five weeks. I visited the wards and learned how to use the equipment. Since then I have managed to keep my own show and become WHR's fundraiser.

I am currently a media student at Walsall College. WHR is excellent, well recognised experience to breakthrough into the industry. I absolutely love music and I love to party. I regularly go clubbing, to gigs, and try my hardest to get to as many festivals as I can. During my show I play all variety of feel good music including indie, punk rock, electro, drum and bass, break beat, uplifting dance, reggae and pop, hence the name of m show "The Mash Up." Music bring great inspiration and I believe it can definitely influence our well being.  Hopefully my show has helped to lift some of the patients during their stay (well it should do - most tracks are guaranteed to get the heart pumping!) Tune in Friday afternoons between 1 and 3.

As I am fundraiser, I am hoping to put on various gigs at local Pubs, which will not only help raise money for the station, but also promote new and upcoming young bands. I am looking at doing fun days with bands, bouncing castles, face painting and competitions etc. Fingers crossed it all goes well!  If you have any ideas or are feeling generous, give us a call on 01922 637272.

ANTHONY BROADHEAD - Human Resources Officer.

Dear All,

2005 has been a most interesting year, with volunteers coming into our studios from all manners of the community, from school leavers to students and commercial people all volunteering a hand to promote the virtues of hospital broadcasting.  It is from these tiny steps into this field, that many a past radio star has embarked into the heady world of commercial radio.

Hospital radio therefore is an ideal format for those interested in radio, and willing to spare a few hours each week to train into the ways of broadcasting and to share the excitement and experience that comes with a live radio broadcast.   Here at Walsall Hospital Radio, we always welcome new volunteers and ward walkers who are willing to learn the ways into a new possible future in broadcasting and are willing to share the excitement that this all brings.  May I take this opportunity to wish all volunteers, old and new, the very best for 2007 and that it will bring new opportunities for us all.

Thank you

Anthony Broadhead.

"An evening with the King"

Weekly horoscopes, forthcoming events, short stories, the news and I even throw in local weather forecasts please call in on 01922 637272.

Tuesday evenings swing along with me Jason King on WHR a friendly voice at your bedside. One night not enough? Then join me on Sunday evenings from 5pm onwards for "Another evening with the King"

  HELEN HALLS

Helen Halls has been with the station since 1991. In her time here she has been a news reporter, interviewed Slade, done the WHR  Chart Show, a music magazine called "Sounds around" and currently fronts "The Afternoon Experience". She sees her role at WHR as "being the person who plays those records you'd forgotten all about, or never thought you'd hear on hospital radio." Others see her as the person who plays 'Larry Grayson'.

BERT PEACH

Bret's enthusiasm to WHR is second to none. He joins the hall of fame presenters at WHR once again and brings you an enjoyable couple of hours. Bret is another fine example of commitments to WHR, often helping out wherever possible. In his spare time Mr Peach is a top DJ, with many appearances at your local club of trendy bar. He's also a keen weight - trainer so he doubles up as one of the WHR door security.

He has been with hospital radio for many years.

"I joined in 1990, left in '94 because of work commitments, returned to do Thursday nights in '04 and been back ever since. I enjoy entertaining the patients and sometimes walk the wards when I can.  It is a pleasurable job and I get satisfaction in making people smile and laugh.
